Corns

Corns are concentrated areas of callous, there are different types of corns;

Hard Corns

CornThese tend to form over bony prominences which are under excessive pressure. Usual sites for this type of corn are: \

  • The metetarsals 1-5
  • The outside of the little toe
  • The tops of the toes
  • The tip of the toes

Soft Corns

These usually appear in between the toes. They are often surrounded by white macerated tissue.

Seed Corns

These corns are small and often associated with dry skin.

Treatment for all types of corns include reduction with a scalpel, chemical treatments, padding, digital orthoses, insoles or orthotics. In some cases Electro surgery may be appropriate depending on the type of corn, the location etc.
