Sports Injuries

Some abnormalities of the foot and lower limb may not cause any problems under normal circumstances, however when taking part in sport they can become a problem due to the extreme stresses placed on the body during sport and the repetitive nature of the activity e.g. running, tennis, football squash etc.

Running feetCommon conditions such as plantar fasciitis (arch pain), achilles tendon pain, ankle pain, shin splints, knee and low back pain may be caused by abnormal foot function.  A full biomechanical assessment will look at your gait cycle, check for any anomalies in your feet and legs, assess any symptoms that are present  and formulate a course of treatment. Treatment may include strapping, ice, exercises, advice on appropriate footwear, insoles or orthotics devices specifically designed for your sport.
